Sacraments

Sacraments are visible rituals that symbolize and confer the invisible grace of God. They are fundamental to the spiritual life of Catholics, serving as channels through which God's sanctifying grace flows to individuals. The Catholic Church has 7 sacraments...

Baptism

Sacrament of Initiation

Through baptism, we are cleansed of original sin, receive the grace of God, and become members of the Church. It is a sacrament of faith, initiation, and rebirth in Christ.

Classes for this sacrament are as follows: Infant Baptism (0-6 years old), Youth Baptism (7-15 years old), and the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) (16 years and older).

Holy Communion

Sacrament of Initiation

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. In this sacrament, we receive the Body and Blood of Christ, deepening our union with Him and the Church. It is a moment of grace, strengthening us spiritually and drawing us closer to God.

We offer two classes for those preparing to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion: First Holy Communion classes for children and youth between the ages of 9 and 14, and RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) for individuals aged 16 and older.

For more information or to register for a class, please contact the parish office.

Confirmation

Sacrament of Initiation

Confirmation is the sacrament that completes baptism, strengthening us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and deepening our commitment to the Catholic faith. Through this sacrament, we are called to be witnesses of Christ and active members of the Church.

There are 2 classes for this sacrament: Youth confirmation for those aged 12 to 15 years, and RCIA for those above the age of 16.

For more information or to register for a class, please contact the parish office.

Reconciliation

Sacrament of Healing

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a sacrament of healing where we seek God's mercy, receive forgiveness for our sins, and restore our relationship with Him. Through this sacrament, we experience God's love and grace, helping us grow in holiness.

Confessions are available by appointment. Please contact the parish office to schedule a time with a priest.

Anointing of the Sick

Sacrament of Healing

The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing, given to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or facing major surgery. Through this sacrament, the Church prays for physical and spiritual healing, strength, and the forgiveness of sins. It is a powerful encounter with God's grace and mercy.

This sacrament is available for those in need. Please contact the parish office to schedule a visit from a priest, whether at home, in the hospital, or another care facility.

Holy Matrimony

Sacrament of Service

Matrimony is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, reflecting the love of Christ for His Church. Through this sacrament, couples are united in a lifelong bond, strengthened by God's grace to live out their vocation of love and faithfulness.

Couples seeking to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony must contact the parish office at least several months in advance to begin marriage preparation. This process includes meetings with a priest, pre-marital counseling, and preparation for a holy and sacramental marriage.

Mina Nawe Together Forever is a Soweto-based initiative that celebrates and strengthens relationships. For more information on how to participate in Mina Nawe Together Forever, or to register for marriage preparation, please contact the parish office.

Holy Orders

Sacrament of Service

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the means by which the mission of Christ continues through the ordained ministry of deacons, priests, and bishops. Those who receive this sacrament are called to serve God's people through preaching, celebrating the sacraments, and guiding the Church.

For more information or to begin your journey toward Holy Orders, please contact the parish office.
